I'm Branding Myself

In my recent fit of career anxiety, I've begun a campaign aimed at marketing myself. This essentially means I'm designing and developing various marketing materials to help make my name more readily accessible to just about everyone.

Not that long ago, I put together a resume for a couple of job applications and the career fair. Unfortunately, it isn't following my newly invented branding colors, so I need to redo it. However, creating that resume is what started this fit of career anxiety.

Next up was a business card. I put one together just for kicks, which matched my resume... and then got sick of its lack of style. So I sent my mind back on the drawing board aspiring to find something more hip. While I was making the business card, I decided that having the address to this blog on the card seemed just a tad half-assed. I bought a couple of domains from the going daddy to remedy this, and make it whole-assed. the address and a QR code for easy access went on the back of the card. Here's what I had come up with:

It literally took me hours to find colors that I love. But it sure as hell was worth it. I'm confident the QR code will be scannable via your smart phone, as it seems to work while it's on the screen. We'll see if I'm right. I hope I'm right.

Once I nail down the printing costs, I'll probably produce at least one or two more proofs with different titles... or maybe I'll make different designs altogether.

If I have a domain, I'm going to need a website. This is something I've been struggling with for years upon years. I've run through design iteration after design iteration, to no avail. But these domains mark my committment to getting something in place. As such, there is a placeholder (lol) sitting at the addresses http://www.mlschubert.com and http://www.matthewschubert.com.

The site will most likely share the same colors as the business card. Or, if I design another business card for my profession (Software Engineering), then I will likely have two separate sites for each. This is still in planning.

The blog will most definitely find itself in the same colors as the business card. In fact, I'll probably be moving it to my hosting as well. When that will happen.... is a mystery.

So it's going to be an intense Spring Break. I've got tons of cool projects on my plate, and lots of blogging to catch up on. I'm excited!
